why bad james bond movie is a good art.

everyone who has watched the new bond is unhappy except the little kid with whom i saw it for first time(i told him heroin has a asthama and needs artificial breathing, which he percived as the contagious)
but this bond seems to be more about spaces ,corridors, colur schemes and video art.the which are interesting in movies are between two or three charactors.
large chunk of postmodern art after 1980 is about installation, and video art.and the things which were repeated were
1)corridors,
2)arge video pannels with blurred images,
3)d things presented as an art(debris, body fluids)
4)old forms of art presented with different e.g.chuck close present exhausted form of portrait with minute detailing thus giving more importance to process
5)allusions .parody and quoting from other artists thus david salle quotes or used works of other artist and invite legal sueing.

now no. 5 is just a cliche every bond used old movie techiques(famous is that of using someone's uniform which is avoidd in last 2 movies, but last fight in air and speed boat chase is)

1)in every scene where bond passes camera shows passages in chasing the murderer for example(second scene)
2)constant display of mobile and other messaging and data search is done in the video film format.
3)see how blood is used in severel shots.
bond put mantis amidst thedebris bag
4)look at the photographs which bond shoot are so chuck closian.
5)human folm in postmodern art is often shown as a nuetral nonemotional mannquinn like posture.look at our recent baroda scuilptures and bondgirl throughout in amovie look like the model outside shop.
this is is the one movie which if it is streched to 24 hours in psycholike art it will be more enjoyable(psycho was streched over 24 hours as avideo art.
every set even the last sequence in stones, tosca set, huge set in desert is a piece of art.

poona

i was in pune for 2 days.it is diwali issue season and i baught three issues, sakal, mauj, akshar.mauj is one of the older bissues being published for over 50 years.there is an article about rss by s.h.deshpande,socialogist who has written a book about mhaisal project.in english.
in 1945 few swayansewaks of rss left rss after having constant debate about reconstruction of rss, with the then rss chief golwalkar guruji.all these swayansewaks were talented and did a substantil work in various field.appa pendase started 'dnyan prabodhini'(avinash dharmadhikar is product of prabodhini).madhukarrao strted ngo for dalits hich would make them economicaly independant.
s.h. deshapnde and others contributed to education,media.di.wi.gokhale became maharashtra times's asistant editor and wote books about war strategy.
there is one disappointing article by jayant naralikar who was in cambridge and was a rangler.to became rangler one has to pass world's hardest exam in mmaths.(in few books about mathametics one can get history of maths e.g. in 'beautifull mind'or in 'man who knew infinity')but naralikar dont give any background of this and just gives boring family details.
in akshar there is a session of articles about vijay tendulkar where everyone writres as if he was jesus.and there is little about his mind as a writer.or what made him one of great indian writer.
in sakal there is article by achyut godbole .an iitian who went in rural,in fact tribal area to do 'social service' and came back.his expirinces in computer indusrty after that are interesting.he was ceo of many co.and has written books about operting systems of computer .his books are used (even )in china.
pona is still mystery tome even after so many years.i dont understand their roads.rikshaw meter system.e.g.if meter is 1.60 you have to multiplyone and .60 by 8 that is easy but then it tells you to add 2rs more. or sometimes rikshawals tell you 10 rs for one and do six times and add 2.the way he does make you respect about their mathematicl ability.and you understand why rangalrs like naralikar and poona were born in poona (and none in mumbai)
i always gets confused with galis and end up being where i am after 30 minits.so here iam amongst heavily makeuped prostitutes.poona has has a red light area which is among normal residancy.in is not differintiated like mumbai.so there are shope where people buy items for diwali and house hold items and there are womans standing..i decide to end my quest for cheap lodge and enter one and get a single bed room for 125 rupees .i am suspicious about use of lodge and ask the boy who show me a room is this room used for 'sleeping'.he answers dont worry no one uses single bed room for f**ing

Vijay Tendulkar

vijay tendulkar's death at 80 ,though not shocking, means loss for many in many way.ofcourse he was india's major playwright.his plays are translated into many indian languages which reached reader's and viewers throughout india.recently his plays were performed in usa.its range enthralled viewers.even thouh it was in marathi 'ghashiram kotwal' ,because it was visually so rich, that m.f. husain did a series of painting based on that.it was favorite play of mario miranda.
vijay tendulkar in his book 'mi ani natak' tells a moving story of his first play 'grihasthh"(in prface of oxford india's translation 'manus nawache bet' is mentioned as a first play which is not true) damu kenkare along with his friends was active in bharatiya vidya bhawan and tendulkar was almost forced to write a play.it was three act play.first two acts were ok,but third act was disappointing and viewers started making noise and kenkare disappeared from stage.tendulkar was totally dicouraged.and decided not to write a play in life again.then his father comforted him saying 'for a first time writer, play is good'just rewrite it.in rewriting it was improved.
in decade after 1953 vijaya mehata directed his many plays.'shrimant' was succesfull.back from alkazi's training she created new language for theater.gidhade was play wchich she directed and shocked many.inspiration for that came from gaitonde's story who once designed set for a play.and was in touch with bharatiya widya bhawan group.(held a studio there). he wrote 'manus nawache bet',shrimant, ashi pakhare yeti, kamala.gidhade ,ghashiram kotwaal, shantata !court chalu aahe!kanyadan...ashi pakhare yeti was light hearted play but almost 80 percent of his work was depicting violence and cruelty.marathi theater which was nurtured on a 'satwik' feel good emotional dramas this was a big shock.shiwasena banned sakharam binder.ghashiram when it was invited for show in England a huge uproar wwas created.in 'kanyadaan 'he portrays a dalit nayak who is drunkard and marries a brhmin girl.for dalit community which was moving away from past and progressing towards middle class, this was something indigestibles.
tendulkar was first daily columnist in marathi.his tender hearted ,witty columns become populer in maharashtra times in seventies.in book form they were in b.a. curriculam.he did journalism and described himself as a scribe.he wrote about severel eventss incuding comeback of chimanbhai patel and hanging.his piece about hanging reminds one of orwel and both ends with utturance of dying man'rama, rama'
he edited diwali magazine named 'jahirnama' and many non writers wrote in it.one engineer wrote about case of similarities in electronic co.'s name.priya tendulkar wrote about her experience in five star hotel.
he was full time writer.often to meet dead lines he used to write in train.his daughter priya bacame television celebrity.his son was a cmeraman.both died before him.his son took a huge loan from a bank to buy a boat.and he lost that.there was case in court and in older age tendulkar (BEING one of signitary)landed in court.yet he wrote about all this in detached tone.he wrote 2 novels and they were not recived well.in last few years he was active in many movements with medha patkar shabana azmi.he was very encouraging to younger writers and always available to them.whe he saw jayant pawar's adhantar he said it was one of the great play'ase natak mi lihu shakalo nasato.he aprecited manaswini lata ravindr's plays and wrote preface to he play's collection when she was hardly 26.
his films were mostly from new wave but 'ardhasatya' bacome populer and raj kapoor loved it .through night he saw it 3-4 times and called tendulkar in morning.he invited tendulkar for a breakfast and requested him to write something for him.tendulkar had one germ about man who witness eeverything in goverment.they worked on it for a while.it didn't work. ardhasatya was just 6 page story by his friend.tendulkar turned it intro great movie.in original end hero welinkar commit suicide.but it was changed.samana was another movie which won prestigious berlin award.
he was friend to many.his son loved pets and at certain time tendulkar's home was full with dog,cat,turtle,birds...
in last few years i visited him few times.once he was reading feynman(nobel winning physicist);' book.whch was bestseller and hugely populer.tendulkar said'i am loking for something.'i asked 'for what?' he said'i am seeking whether he feel any regreat for working on a bomb.there were 3 watches on table.when asked about it he said 'one is priya's and another my son's'.he lost son daughter and wife in some period of 2-3 years.watching and meeting him was like seeing a saint who has seen it all and chronicled it all.
now one more clock will go on ticking on the table .

reading

reading is the activity which demands hours after hours.i remeber that some of best books which i read were books which i read in one sitting.ofcourse there are books which are so big that you cannot read them in a strech.i read 'perfume' by patrick suskind in one sitting.and kunder'a book of laughter and forgetting'in one whole day.in childhood i used join a liabrary in khar.i used to read 2 books a day.one for elders and one for children.these were books in marathi,my mothertongue.english was second language.it was difficult to read english books .so i used to read translations.one day i got a translation of 'adventures of huck finn'by mark twain.i was really hooked.all my friends in school loved that.ajay gadre, aniruddha phadake, milind kulkarni, abhay awachat these friends were good reader.in that age devoid of tv reading was the only enertainment....and of course playing cricket using shoe as a bat.
school has a huge liabrary,at least it gave impression on vastness in that age.i read dickens, hemingawey, hans anderson which was milind's favorite.i liked tom sawyer, sherlock holmes ,james bond, poe, many american writers which were translated in marathi through a scheme.(that is usa gave wheat to india and all that money was used for cultural activity)i used to read while classes were in progress.one day i was eading a book in tenth standard and teacher caught me.the book was translation of novel 'doctor'by sinclair lewis translated by malati bedekar.
ofcourse we were reading everything that was there to read in marathi.mrityunjay was big and famous book which i read when i was in fifth.it is 800 pages book.one book which i discovered was george gamov's 'one,two,three,...infinity'.i borrowed it from gadre.(he was always generous).i was enthralled.there was huge range of topics from dicovery of chess to probability.relativity to biology.i couldn't understand about relativity but i enjoyed other things.like how rays get curved when big mass like earth appear in between.in tenth standard i baught copy of it in 9 rupees(it cost ten minus one rupee discount).that was first book which i baught.but to save that much money i took ten days.after 2-3 years i baught copy in english.i baught that book severel times.
now i have 6000 booksi have complete britanica(1968,24 volumes).my school and friends in my class played major role in my reading.in last few years there were articles about my books collection in indian express,midday.com,mumbai mirror.i get phone call almost everyday from people who love books or are searching books.i dont have tv.but opening a new book or old magazine issue of 'the new yorker' or 'encounter' or 'punch' always excites me.

slowness

other day i spend a whole day without reading.watching video.since i dont have tv.or computer i spend my time reading that is when i am not working.(i am writing this from cybercafe)
often people start their day reading newspaper.thi consume lot of prime time for reading i must say.
i prefer to start a day with a book.
i finished a book about newyorker editor'remembering mr.hawn of new yorker'.it is book by ved mehta, who was on the staff of new yorker for almost 30 years.
editing is the hidden art.the book desribes relation between writers and edittor mr.shawn
a man who was an institution himself.
